Red Velvet Cake, Humidity and Me

It has been far too long since I wrote a blog post!Β  Moving country took a lot more out of me than I thought it would, and as everything here was new to me I had so much adventuring to do!Β  To be honest, everything got a little bit overwhelming and I needed to take a step back from my online world, and from cooking and baking, to find my feet again. I’m sorry it took me so long, but I wanted to make sure I was 100% before coming back.

But now I’m back! πŸ™‚ And ready to get stuck into the world of blogging again.

Since moving to America I’ve discovered so many new things. Florida is hot (no surprise!) and so very humid. I’ve also come to realise that everything eats everything in Florida – I felt like I’d entered the land that time forgot when I first got here πŸ˜‰

My husband and I are really happy to be in the same country again though, at and that our dinner and movie nights can stop being long distance πŸ™‚ Being married to a military man means that I’ve no doubt we’ll be doing long distance dinners again, but for now we’re enjoying every minute that we get to have together.

One thing I’ve discovered – which possibly isn’t such a good thing lol – is red velvet cake. Ohhh wow is that stuff good. I can’t stop making them…which of course means someone *ahem* has to eat them!

I’ll be posting some new delicious recipes, hopefully every week. But for now, I just want to say hello again to my followers (new and not-so-new), and that it’s good to be back!

I’m Alive!

Phew! Well, it has been a long time since I updated my blog and I want to say sorry for having such a long break between posts. Moving country happened really fast – my visa interview happened suddenly and then with packing and flying and unpacking, things have been pretty hectic to say the least lol!

But, now I think I’m finally settled, or at least settled enough to be able to get back on track with my blogging. So, hello to my followers, I’ve missed you guys πŸ™‚ and hello to any new followers, welcome to my little corner of the internet!

Even though I haven’t sat down to blog since I’ve moved to America, I have a good pile or recipes that I’m planning to post over the next few weeks. Now hubby and I don’t have to do long-distance meals together I even get to use him as a guinea pig for some of the new ones πŸ˜‰

I’ll update with a post on my move a little later but for now I leave you with a long overdue “Hello again!” and will get stuck in on catching up with what I’ve missed around here.

Getting Closer!

Sorry for the absence of posts from me lately, things have been progressing with my visa application and it’s been taking up a lot of my time to get things organised. We finally have an interview date though! Yey! Unfortunately it’s not before our first anniversary, so that’s not so good :/ but we’ll still make the most of the day with synchronising a romantic meal with webcams and synchronising pressing play on a movie we will both rent to watch at the same time πŸ™‚

Now that the interview date has been set, I have a little more time to be posting things on here because now we actually have a date to work towards. No more limbo! Not being able to plan ahead was horrible but now, I can plan πŸ™‚ …and I’m sure it will sink in sometime later today just how much I need to get done lol!

So, posts coming soon. I have a great ice cream recipe I want to share with you all and a delicious soup, as well as a lovely pasta dish and some book reviews.

Stuck In A Rut?

I know I haven’t blogged for a while and it isn’t for lack of content, believe me! I have photographs and other things piling up on my hard drive just waiting to be blogged about.

So what is holding me back? It’s strange because I want to be sharing this stuff – I take the time to document things with photographs specifically with my blog in mind – but then when I sit down at my PC to actually write a blog post…my motivation vanishes. I think that perhaps it’s a general feeling of “meh”ness (yep, that’s totally a word! lol!) because I had thought I’d be in America by now, with my husband, and be able to spend our first Christmas as husband and wife actually in the same country as each other. But that hasn’t happened πŸ™

The visa application is still being processed, they must have a backlog to work through either in the US or at the embassy here. Whatever the reason though, I don’t get to see my husband at Christmas like we’d both been hoping for and it’s left me feeling really lackluster.

So I guess what I’m trying to say here is that I haven’t forgotten you guys in the bloggerverse, I have a lot to talk about and show you. I’ll try to get something posted on Monday, when I have the house to myself, and hopefully that will kick me out of this rut that I seem to be completely stuck in. Who knows, maybe I’ll even get a Christmas miracle and hear from the visa people next week too!
